Packing and Unpacking Services in Toronto and the GTA

Practical help before and after moving day

Packing takes time, supplies and a plan for how items will travel. Providence Moving offers packing and unpacking help for customers in Toronto and the GTA who want assistance with selected rooms, fragile belongings or a larger portion of the move.

The service should be scoped before booking. Tell us which rooms or items need attention, what is already packed, whether materials are available and when the packing must be completed. That information allows Providence Moving to confirm what can be handled and how the work will be priced.

Packing help shaped around your move

Packing service may be used for:

  • Selected rooms such as the kitchen, living room or home office
  • Clothing, books, décor and everyday household belongings
  • Wrapping and preparing furniture as part of a confirmed move
  • Organizing boxes by room for easier unloading
  • Unpacking agreed boxes at the destination
  • Removing emptied boxes only when that task is explicitly included

Do not place hazardous, prohibited, perishable, irreplaceable or unusually valuable items into the packing scope without discussing them first. Keep personal documents, medication, keys and immediate essentials with you.

How packing pricing works

Providence Moving does not currently publish a standalone packing-material price list. The estimate should therefore confirm:

  • The number of packers and expected hours
  • Any minimum charge
  • Whether boxes, tape, paper or specialty materials are supplied
  • Whether materials are included or billed separately
  • Which rooms and item types are included
  • Whether unpacking or box removal is included
  • HST and any applicable travel conditions

For labour-only work, the current published rate is $40 per hour, per mover, with a 4-hour minimum. Do not assume this rate covers packing materials or every packing job; obtain a written estimate for the actual scope.

If Providence Moving is also handling transportation, current truck packages begin at $135 per hour for 2 movers and a 16-foot truck, with a 4-hour minimum. Larger published packages are available based on the size of the move. See residential moving for the current truck options.

Prices shown are starting rates or examples. Final pricing depends on truck size, crew size, move details, travel, applicable minimums, and HST. Your estimate will confirm the final rate.

Preparing for packing day

Decide what will move, what will stay and what you will handle personally. Group important documents and essentials separately. Identify fragile items and disclose anything unusually heavy, oversized or valuable. Clear access to the rooms being packed and make sure building or parking arrangements are in place if materials must be carried in.

At the destination, labels by room and a simple priority system can make unpacking more useful. If you want only certain boxes opened, list them in the agreed scope.

Toronto and GTA packing support

Providence Moving serves customers across Ontario, with a main focus on Toronto and the GTA. Confirm availability and travel terms for the packing address and, if different, the unpacking address.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book packing without booking a moving truck?

Potentially. Packing can be scoped as labour help, but availability, minimum hours, travel and materials must be confirmed for the job.

Can you pack only one room?

Yes, a limited scope can be requested. Explain which room and the approximate amount to be packed so Providence Moving can confirm whether the request fits the service minimum.

Are boxes and packing materials included?

Do not assume they are included. The current site does not publish material prices. Your estimate should list what Providence Moving supplies, what you supply and any separate material charges.

Do I need to be present?

Confirm access and decision-making arrangements before the appointment. Someone should be available to identify what is being packed, what is excluded and how uncertain items should be handled.

Will you unpack everything at the new home?

Unpacking should follow the agreed scope. Specify which boxes or rooms are included and whether the work means opening boxes, placing everyday items, or only removing packing materials.

How long does packing take?

Time varies with the amount of property, item types, organization, materials and number of packers. An inventory and photos, when requested through an approved channel, can help create a more realistic estimate.
