Moving Labour Hire in Toronto and the GTA

Efficient Labour Hire Solution for Your Move

Not every job needs a moving-company truck. Providence Moving offers labour hire services for customers who already have a rental truck, moving container, storage unit or delivery vehicle, or who need furniture moved within the same property.

Describe the items, access and work area before booking. That helps determine how many movers are appropriate and whether the job fits the available time and equipment.

What moving labour can help with

  • Loading or unloading a customer-provided truck or container
  • Moving furniture and boxes within a home or building
  • Rearranging rooms during renovations or staging
  • Moving items into or out of storage
  • Heavy lifting that is within the crew's confirmed scope
  • Packing or unpacking help when agreed in the estimate

Labour-only service does not automatically include transportation, a truck, packing materials or disposal. Confirm what Providence Moving will provide and what must be ready at the property.

Labour pricing

The current published rate is $40 per hour, per mover, with a 4-hour minimum.

Examples before HST:

  • One mover for the 4-hour minimum: $160
  • Two movers for the 4-hour minimum: $320
  • Three movers for the 4-hour minimum: $480

These examples are simple rate calculations, not quotes. The right crew size depends on the weight and dimensions of the items, stairs, carrying distance, safety and the loading plan.

Prices shown are starting rates or examples. Final pricing depends on truck size, crew size, move details, travel, applicable minimums, and HST. Your estimate will confirm the final rate.

Prepare for labour-only movers

Have the truck or container on site and legally parked before the booked work begins. Boxes should be closed and labelled, furniture should be ready for the agreed handling, and paths should be clear. Explain stairs, elevators, long carries, parking and oversized items in advance.

For customer-provided trucks, make sure the vehicle is suitable for the load and that you understand the rental company's rules. Providence Moving should confirm the labour scope, but vehicle rental, driving and load limits remain separate unless explicitly included in writing.

Toronto and GTA availability

Providence Moving serves customers across Ontario, with a main focus on Toronto and the GTA. Confirm labour availability, the work address and any travel terms for your job.

Frequently asked questions

Does labour service include a moving truck?

No truck should be assumed. This page is for labour-only help. If you need movers and a truck together, request a residential or condo moving estimate.

How many movers should I book?

That depends on the items, stairs, loading distance and available time. Large or awkward pieces may require more than one mover for safe handling. Share an accurate inventory before confirming the crew.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes. The current published labour rate has a 4-hour minimum. A job completed in less time is still billed at the applicable minimum.

Can movers load my rental truck or storage container?

Loading and unloading are listed uses for the labour service. Confirm the vehicle or container size, parking, access and inventory so the scope can be reviewed.

Do you provide packing materials?

Materials are not included in the published labour rate. If you need materials or packing help, discuss the exact requirements and see packing and unpacking services.

Are there items you cannot move?

Do not assume every heavy, hazardous, unusually valuable or oversized item is accepted. Identify those items in advance and obtain written confirmation that the crew can handle them.
